The Impregilo Group was established in the early 1990s, but as the heir to four great Italian companies – Girola, Lodigiani, Impresit and Cogefar – at the forefront of developments in civil engineering worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century, its origins date much further back.

The companies that created Impregilo when they merged in 1995 were involved in the construction of the roads, railways and hydroelectric plants that drove the growth of Italy and many other countries.
