Impregilo, a worldwide concessions player

Changing market requirements and increasingly severe restrictions on public funding have driven the development of new infrastructure planning models requiring enterprises with the necessary organisational, technological and financial capabilities to manage the entire infrastructure development process.

Besides constraints on public finance, the need for better, more efficient service provision and management, and for adequate infrastructure maintenance, are additional factors driving the trend for assignment of new projects on a concessions basis.

The Impregilo Group has learned to identify and anticipate market trends, leveraging its technical, organisational and management capabilities to provide integrated solutions on a project financing basis, which have established it as a world player in the concessions business.

The Group has developed infrastructure concessions in many sectors, including motorways (it operates more than 2,000 km of highways in South America), power generation from renewable sources, water treatment and distribution, hospital systems, detention systems, airports.

Impregilo has extensive international experience in management of Build, Operate and Transfer contracts (BOT), public/private partnership contracts and other forms of mixed contract such as Design, Build, Finance, Operate (DBFO)

Impregilo offers expertise and know-how for organisation of green field concessions. It uses financial structures on the project and export finance market, where it has stipulated finance contracts with leading international banks and multilateral development institutes (EIB, IADB, IFC, BNDES) and monoline insurance companies. Impregilo also has direct experience in raising finance for projects as a bond issuer on the world’s top financial markets.

The Group has managed and financed concessions in Latin America, Europe and Asia, successfully handling the contractual, operating and financial requirements of each country and in each sector.

A number of Impregilo concessions have won international awards as the best project financing deal of the year.

Today the Group is one of the biggest highway and logistics operators in Brazil where it operates through its subsidiary EcorRodovias Infraestrutura e Logistica S.A., a holding listed on San Paolo stock exchange that manages over 1,500 kilometres of motorways and major logistics terminals.
